EcoAid Company Bio

At EcoAid our goal is to reduce human induced climate change by promoting corporate, governmental and personal social responsibility through sustainability, education, and empowerment.

What is Climate Change?

Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) trap heat in our Atmosphere, increasing the global temperature and affecting our climate.  Carbon Dioxide and Methane are examples of GHGs and concentrations in the atmosphere have risen dramatically since industrialization.  Human activity has influenced this balance and the concentration of GHGs are still increasing

What is a Carbon footprint?

To determine your “carbon footprint” means to measure the amount of greenhouse gases that you are adding into the atmosphere. The term was coined from carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas that is the main contributor to climate change.  Whenever you use energy created from fossil fuels such as oil or coal, you’re generating carbon emissions, which increases the level of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere. Your carbon footprint is created by day-to-day corporate and personal activities such as driving, flying, heating or cooling your home or business and using electrical appliances. Even the products you purchase can contribute to your carbon footprint because of the energy that was required to create and transport them.

What are Carbon Offsets?

To offset your carbon emissions simply means to neutralize your part in the polluting of our environment. In technical terms, a carbon offset is a certificate representing the verified reduction of one metric ton (2,205 lbs) of carbon dioxide emissions. If a certified project is developed such as a reforestation project that reduces carbon dioxide emissions, every ton of emissions reduced will result in the creation of one certified carbon offset.

Can Carbon Offsets Improve your Bottom Line?

Yes!  Knowing your Carbon Footprint gives you specific data about your operations and where you can make profitable changes and improvements. Being a carbon neutral company has many advantages such as increasing your public profile, benchmarking against your competitors, encouraging new investors, and becoming a leader in climate change solutions while staying ahead of legislation.  With environmental legislation coming, putting sustainability practices into your company produces now will have clear and positive effects on your bottom line.

How are Carbon Offsets verified?

An accredited third party conducts an annual audit on every offset purchase and marketing claim to guarantee accountability and transparency. This means our clients know exactly where their money is going. The auditor examines our offset purchase contracts against our customer records. This ensures maximum clarity of our purchase history. Our carbon offset portfolio is examined for quality of offset purchases. All purchases must adhere to top quality standards from organizations like the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS), and the Climate Action Registry (CAR).
